Hitler and goebbels: Germany's masters of propaganda
To gain power over Germany, Hitler targeted youths with his program Hitler-Jugend or Hitler Youth. Hitler Youth taught the belief that the future of Nazi Germany rested on its children. Propaganda over the radio was slow to start, but when it caught on it became really popular. The radio proved to be the most important political tool that the German government could use after listeners grew from 4.3 to 5.5 million in just fifteen months.
The goal of Germany was simple and clear: one people, one Reich, one will, and a glorious German future. Hitler used this goal to convince people that what he was doing was essential to gain that "glorious German future" and the people listened. The Nazi government hid many things from the people and lied to them while telling their citizens that they were keeping them up to date.
Joseph Goebbels was a master of propaganda which is probably why Hitler made him the Nazi Head of Propaganda. Goebbels thought of the radio as the eighth great power. He would go on the radio and explain to people how important the radio is for political purposes rather than only entertainment. He used the radio to brainwash and control the people and to win and gain power.
"We want a radio that teaches the people, a radio that works for people, a radio that is intermediary, between the government and the nation, a radio that also reaches across our borders to give the world a picture of our life and our work." - Joseph Goebbels
